Protected Bikeways will bring benefits to Uptown neighborhoods

As part of Moving New Orleans Bikes, the City is currently building 75 miles of connected, low-stress bikeway networks across Orleans Parish. These Complete Streets improvements, including protected bikeways and bike/walk-friendly boulevards, will create more safety and less stress for everyone on the road - people walking, biking, driving and riding transit.

Over the coming months residents of every age and skill level will be able to enjoy safe, low-stress rides between New Orleans neighborhoods, and to many of the city's most popular destinations. Uptown residents who bike need new low-stress commuting options from their home to jobs downtown. To make sure this happens over the coming months, we need to show support for protected bikeways and bike/walk-friendly boulevards.

Will you sign our petition letting City officials know you support Moving New Orleans Bikes, Complete Streets, and more safe and accessible mobility options Uptown and across the city? While you do so, please leave a comment about how street safety improvements will benefit you and your community.

To City Officials,

I support protected and ‘low-stress’ bikeway networks being built Uptown! I’m excited for more safe and active streets connecting my neighborhood to nearby parks, shopping areas, schools, levee trails, ferry terminals, friends in other neighborhoods, bars and restaurants, jobs and opportunities.

Protected bikeways, high-visibility crosswalks, repaired sidewalks and new traffic signals will bring more safety and less stress Uptown, benefiting the entire community -- people walking, biking, driving and riding public transit.

Thank you for continuing to move our community forward by constructing these Complete Streets improvements for the benefit of the many neighborhoods that make up Uptown!

Will you sign?
