Smart E-Biking Workshop (In-person)

 

Thank you for your interest in Bike Easy's Smart E-Biking Workshop!

Smart E-Biking is a course designed for everyday riders of e-bikes (and those interested in riding e-bikes) to learn how to ride safely and confidently on the road.

This workshop will split the afternoon into two parts- an in-classroom portion and an on-bike portion (thanks to our friends at Blue Krewe!)

In-classroom Presentation: 2:00 PM-4:30 PM

  • Considerations Before Purchasing an E-Bike
  • Battery Safety
  • Before You Ride
  • Rider Safety
  • Crash Awareness & Rider Etiquette
  • Multi-Use Trail Etiquette & Laws
  • Question & Answer
  • E-Bike Smart Exam & Certification- This class teaches modules designed by League of American Bicycling and People For Bikes.
    Participants are invited to take a short quiz after the presentation to receive a "E-Bike Smart" Certificate from the League of American Bicyclists. 

Break: 4:30-5:00 PM

  • Snacks, drinks & bathroom break. Last minute Blue Bike App sign-ups.
  • Free Helmets and reflective gear will be given to those who attend in-person, up to 15 people!

On-bike portion: 5-7 PM

  • Rules of the Road Review
  • Starting & Stopping on an E-bike
  • Group Riding Practice on the Lafitte Greenway

    *Must attend in-classroom portion prior to attend. 
    *Must pre-download the Blue Bikes App and Sign-up for a Membership with a Debit/ Credit Card and Government issued ID. Click here to find out how to download the app and get instructions. 
    A Blue Bike coupon code will be given to participants to use for a free ride during the portion of this class. 

What to bring:
Please bring a refillable water bottle, sunscreen or whatever will help you stay comfortable riding during the afternoon (extra snacks).

Limited snacks and drinks will be provided.

In-person class is limited to participants 16 y.o and up.  Those under 18 will need a parent present to sign a waiver prior to the bike ride or, reach out to [email protected] for a waiver.
