Smart Biking- September 5th and 6th

BikeEasy is excited to have you join our 2-DAY Smart Biking Workshop.

This FREE course is designed for those who want to become

smarter, safer and more confident bike riders. 

 

Day 1: Getting to Know Your Bike, Your Rights and Smart Bike Handling

Friday, September 5th from 5:30 PM-8:30 PM

Topics covered include: Choosing a Bike, Bike Maintenance, Clothing and Equipment, Helmet Fit, Rules of the Road, Bike Handling Basics and Shifting Gears. Participants will receive a copy of the League of American Bicyclists' Guide to Smart Cycling. You will not need to bring a bicycle to Day 1 of class.

 

Day 2: Smart Road Riding

Saturday, September 6th from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM

Topics covered include: Riding with a Group, Riding in Inclement Weather, Principles of Traffic Law, Lane Positioning and Intersections, Bike Infrastructure, Crashes and Hazards, Hazard Avoidance Maneuvers and Group Riding. The class will culminate in a Smart Cycling exam and those who pass the test and complete all sessions will be awarded a Smart Cycling certificate*.

Please bring: A bicycle, helmet, water bottle, sunblock, sunglasses, hat and a lunch. If you need to borrow a bicycle, please email [email protected] with your age and height.

 *Smart Biking is a class designed for adults and teens. For youth under 16, we require that a parent or guardian also register and complete the class along with the youth, and all youth under 18 must have a parent or guardian drop them off, and sign a waiver.

 *The Smart Cycling Certificate will certify you have completed the prerequisite class to become eligible to sign up for the seminar to become an League Cycling instructor.

-Bike Easy will be hosting the three-day League Cycling Instructor Seminar from Friday, November 14th through Sunday, November 16th. Please share with us if this interests you! We may be able to offer a few scholarships for those interested in teaching with Bike Easy.  Otherwise, sign up here.
