Smart Biking- April 27th, May 4th and May 9th

 

BikeEasy is excited to have you join our 3- Part Smart Biking Workshop. This FREE course is designed for those who want to become smarter, safer and more confident bike riders. 

Day 1: Getting to Know Your Bike, Your Rights and Smart Bike Handling

Monday, April 27th, 2026 from 6:30 PM- 8:00 PM

Topics include: Choosing a Bike, Bike Maintenance, Clothing and Equipment, Helmet Fit, Rules of the Road, Bike Handling Basics and Shifting Gears.

This class will take place on Zoom and the link will be emailed to all who register. 

Day 2: Biking Smart

Monday, May 4th, 2026 from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM

Topics include: Riding with a Group, Riding in Inclement Weather, Principles of Traffic Law, Lane Positioning and Intersections, Bike Infrastructure, Crashes and Hazards.

This class will take place on Zoom and the link will be emailed to all who register. 

Day 3: Smart Road Riding

Saturday, May 9th, 2026 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM

Topics include: Hazard Avoidance Maneuvers and Group Riding. 

This class will take place in-person and on-bike.

We will meet at Bike Easy's office @ 3530 Toulouse St.

Please bring: A bicycle, helmet, water bottle, sunblock, sunglasses, hat.

The 3-part series will culminate in a Smart Cycling exam. Those who pass the test and complete all sessions will be awarded a Smart Cycling certificate*

*The Smart Cycling Certificate will certify you have completed the prerequisite class to become eligible to sign up for the seminar to become an League Cycling instructor.

*Bike Easy / New Orleans does not currently have plans to host the three-day League Cycling Instructor Seminar. Nearby cities may be hosting the class this year.  Please share with us if this interests you and we can help you sign up for a class nearby!

*Smart Biking is a class designed for adults and teens. For youth under 16, we require that a parent or guardian also register and complete the class along with the youth, and all youth under 18 must have a parent or guardian drop them off and sign a waiver.
