Sponsor A Safety Sunday Bikeway Cleanup

Safety Sunday Bikeway Cleanups are an effort to bring people together to take ownership of existing bike infrastructure in their neighborhood, clean the current bike lanes, and gather valuable feedback. Our collected findings are used to share suggestions to the city, hoping to improve current infrastructure and take note of things to consider in future bikeway infrastructure.

Since July 2022, Bike Easy has completed over 10 Safety Sunday Bikeway Cleanups:

• 8.14.22 - McArthur Blvd - 11 Volunteers

• 10.23.22 - Gentilly Blvd near Broad Street - 3 Volunteers

• 12.2.22 - North Galvez Street - 6 Volunteers

• 1.15.23 - Gentilly Blvd under i610 overpass - 14 Volunteers

• 6.25.23 - Elysian Fields and Royal St - 5 Volunteers

• 10.1.23 - All Blvd - 4 Volunteers

• 11.5.23 - Norman C. Francis Parkway - 9 Volunteers

• 12.10.23 - Leon C Simon Dr & London Canal Bridge - 5 Volunteers

• 1.21.24 - Basin St & Lafitte Greenway - 5 Volunteers

• 3.3.24 - MLK & OC Haley - 4 Volunteers

By sponsoring a bikeway cleanup, Bike Easy will provide staff and volunteer support, street cleaning tools, reflective vests, cones, and snacks. If you would like to sponsor a cleanup for a particular location, please include this note with your donation. At this time we require the cleanups to take place on protected bikeways for safety of the volunteers.

If you'd like to volunteer to help with a bikeway cleanup, please wear comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes, reusable water bottles for refilling, friends, and anything else you think will assist in clearing the bike lanes!
