Adult Learn to Ride

Bike Easy's Adult Learn-to-Ride

Bike Easy's Adult Learn to Ride is a group class for teens and adults 16 and up who are ready to ride on two-wheels for the first time.

Using a safe, efficient method taught by experienced instructors, riders will learn how to:

  • Glide
  • Balance
  • Start and stop
  • Pedal
  • Steer

Most students learn to ride in just one session. Even if they don’t, students will leave with a simple, low-stress technique to continue practicing on their own and gain independence.

Required Equipment

Each participant must bring:

  • A bicycle with handbrakes*
  • A bicycle that is comfortable to you.

Bike Requirements:

  • Must fit you properly
  • Wheels should spin freely
  • Brakes must function correctly
  • Must be able to place both feet flat on the ground while seated
  • Tires should be fully inflated

Note:
Bikes with handbrakes are strongly recommended. While coaster-brake bikes (pedal-back brakes) can be used, they can make learning more difficult since children may accidentally brake while trying to pedal forward. We also take the pedals of the bike to teach the students to learn how to glide. With pedals off on a coaster-bike, the rider looses their brakes.

Loaner Bikes

Bike Easy may be able to provide a loaner bike and helmet, depending on availability

To request one, email your age and height to: [email protected]
