Description

Join us for a commemorative community-led 20-mile bike ride and 5K Run/Walk exhibition. Our campaign highlights Mayor Cantrell's overall transportation plan to improve equity, safety, connectivity, and efficiency.

Over 30+ partners are coming together to showcase community within our vibrant ECOSYSTEM of cyclists, runners, cultural bearers, local businesses, nonprofits, community/civic leaders, and more.

An intentionally designed route offers participants a first-hand opportunity to explore historical landmarks along newly constructed bikeway networks. The route also includes affordable housing and commercial projects promoting economic development awareness through black-owned businesses and cultural nonprofits. You'll be able to stop and ask questions, pick up information, and grab light snacks as you roll through historical NOLA neighborhoods.

And of course, there's an after-party concert! We're activating multiple levels of the Pythian Building, including the Market with music, art, history, drinks, food, and complete sensory overload! Must be 21!

Take part in creating a premier cycling and running event bringing communities from around the country to New Orleans! Make sure your team signs up to SUPPORT and REPRESENT!

NOTE: All biking, running, and walking levels are welcome. Biking and 5K run/walk routes can be found under the route section, but it's ok to find your own finish line in the nature of an exhibition event. Just do your best and enjoy the company along the way.

About Let's Get Loud

LET’S GET LOUD NOLA is about keeping our streets safe and alive with culture! The streets are our stages as culture flows through our neighborhoods honoring and celebrating our history.

The one-day event is designed to build connection through representation and redefine community. We also aim to connect our network of supporters to advocacy initiatives; thereby, increasing civic engagement and Complete Streets programming awareness. Building community amongst our cycling, run, and walking groups helps to create a more vibrant and informed community.

Our campaign aims to support four specific areas: increase civic engagement, reframe improving infrastructure conversations for safer streets, promote cultural preservation, and continue healing our community through physical and mental health outlets. Reframing infrastructural improvement provides an opportunity for people to see themselves involved in city growth and meaningful placemaking. By engaging the citizens of New Orleans, we empower, educate, and create inclusive programming for our local neighborhoods, primarily communities of color, through the promotion of our culture. We want everyone to take ownership and “Let’s Get Loud” about safer streets, social equity, and cultural preservation through fitness and increased civic engagement.

Moving New Orleans

Let’s Get Loud is designed to activate the streets of New Orleans.

We are getting loud about keeping our streets safe and alive with culture by advocating for Complete Streets. Complete Streets are streets for everyone! Complete streets are built to be shared and are safe and accessible for people biking, walking, driving, and taking transit. They are designed to prioritize safety, comfort, and equity.

Moving New Orleans is Mayor Cantrell’s overall transportation action plan to improve equity, safety, connectivity, and efficiency. Moving New Orleans Bikes is the leading Complete Streets initiative in that action plan and is a city-wide vision of connected networks of low-stress bikeways and walkways, encompassing more than 600 miles of new and improved routes.

Central to the goals described in the Moving New Orleans vision is a city where all residents can safely, easily, and affordably commute to work, visit friends, exercise, go to the store, or access healthcare and do so no matter how they move from point A to point B.

The City and our campaign use the term “Low Stress” to describe the new bikeway network.
